Product launch for manufacturing industry - First Mover Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz has been using the material.one platform for the digital  of its vehicle parts since last fall. The internet platform serves the premium manufacturer as a central connection between its plants and all stakeholders involved in the sampling process, such as suppliers, sub-suppliers and test laboratories. Other major manufacturers have also already launched validation projects. During a successful market launch, logsolut AG, the originator of material.one, renamed itself into material.one AG and simultaneously brought on adesso SE as a new development partner and majority shareholder.

  • adesso customer Mercedes-Benz will transfer all FAI done in its body plants to material.one  by 2023

  • material.one supports the digitalization of the manufacturing industry along end-to-end global supply chains

  • Development partner adesso becomes majority shareholder of material.one AG (formerly logsolut AG)

The entire manufacturing industry is set to benefit from the new material.one platform. Mercedes-Benz for example, is currently planning to transfer all FAI processes done in its body plants to the material.one platform by the end of 2023. Per FAI process, Mercedes-Benz expects time savings of at least 25 percent due to the reduction of manual effort by each process stakeholder involved and potentially a considerable amount of savings for suppliers and laboratories as well.

Following the pilot phase at Mercedes Benz last year, the platform will now go beyond FAI in the automotive sector to support the entire supply chain across the entire manufacturing industry and all manufacturers. Among others, the latest legal requirements of the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, along with applicable sustainability, environmental and recycling measures as well as certification processes are taken into consideration.

In changing its name, Bernd Löhle, founder and managing director of logsolut, will join the board of material.one AG. Together with his team and adesso, he has continued to develop the platform further in recent months and knows its benefits well: "With material.one, data from a multitude of components from global supply chains can be used intelligently to optimize products and requirements. By analyzing test results, material requirements can be adjusted to reduce manufacturing costs or warranty claims."

From of adesso, Stefan Hussmann, head of the automotive & transportation business unit, will take over another board position. He is currently in talks with leading OEMs and manufacturers in the German market and knows their needs: "We are convinced that companies and their suppliers who can connect to the platform can secure competitive advantages for their production processes in global supply chains. The market demand for this product is immense."

Together, under the name material.one AG, the teams of adesso and the former logsolut are setting out to ensure more transparency, clarity and efficiency in the industry's global supply chains on a single, unified platform.
